St patricks day is a public holiday celebrated all over the world. The main puropose of it is to remember St patrick.


Main information
Little is known of St Patrick's early chilhood life. But there is alot about his later life as and adualt. It all started when St Pactrick was kidnapped by irish raiders and taken captive to ireland as a slave. No one actually knows the location of where he was held captive but apprently it was somewhere in the west coast of Ireland but the exact location is unknown. According to him he was told by God in a dream to flee from being held hostage and go to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. He then studied and became a preist. He then died on the 17th of march 461.

Why do we dress up in green.
The actuall colour was blue a we while ago but then it changed to green. We dress in green because green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century. He is said to have used the shamrock, the picture up there, to explain the Holy trinity Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

How do people celebrate it.

There is alot of ways people celebrate St Patricks day.
One way is alot of people dress up in green and go partying.
Some other people like to celebrate it in alot more of a carmer way in remeberance of St Patrick. In some places there is nice little church services.
There is also a weird kinda way in chicago they celebrate it by dieing the river which is kinda cool but you wouldnt want to swim in it.
